Certificate of authenticity
Professionally document your item with a certificate signed by Mathias Meyer: enhance the value of your piece and, eventually, facilitate its sale.
Before certification
Certification requires a preliminary assessment conducted by Mathias Meyer. This confirms if there are sufficient elements to support authenticity before the certificate is issued. The cost of the preliminary assessment is deducted from the certification price if certification is performed.
Everything is done 100% remotely: you don't need to send your item via mail.
A professional certificate of authenticity
Mathias Meyer performs two technical analyses: graphotechnical analysis, verifying consistency with the medium, and analysis of the item's provenance. The certificate includes a classification on the Glórias Authenticity Scale (G1 to G5), a unique registration number, digital signature and stamp, and is issued in Portuguese, in PDF and image format, and sent by email. Optionally, it can also be issued in English.
Next step: selling the item
In accordance with the guidelines defined in the preliminary assessment, we can also oversee the sale of your item, presenting it to our network of clients and collectors or to specialized dealers and auctioneers, in Brazil or abroad, depending on the piece's profile and available opportunities.
This service is optional and independent of the assessment and certification. The commission will be defined beforehand, according to the value and complexity of the sale, ranging between 10% and 30%, and must be agreed upon before the commercialization process begins.
Any additional costs, especially for an international sale — such as packaging, shipping, insurance, customs broker, taxes, exchange fees, and other expenses — may be charged separately.

Frequently Asked Questions about CERTIFICATION
Why do I need to perform a Preliminary Assessment before certification?
The Preliminary Assessment allows us to verify if there is enough evidence to support the authenticity of the item. This way, you avoid investing in a certification when the preliminary analysis does not recommend it.
The R$ 90 paid for the Preliminary Assessment will be deducted from the certification price if the certification is performed.
What is the difference between Preliminary Assessment and Certification?
Preliminary Assessment is an initial professional analysis, performed remotely based on photos, information, and provenance elements provided by the client. Its purpose is to evaluate probable authenticity, estimate market value, and advise on next steps.
Certification is a more comprehensive analysis, which results in a formal document intended to professionally document the item's authenticity.
How is the certification done? Do I need to send my item?
In most cases, it is not necessary to send the item. Analysis can be carried out remotely, based on high-resolution photographs, provenance information, and other elements requested by Mathias Meyer.
In specific cases, Mathias Meyer may request the physical shipment of the item.
What exactly is analyzed in the certification process?
Certification combines two main technical analyses: signature or handwriting analysis, by comparison with authentic examples, and analysis of the item's provenance.
Where relevant, the medium, historical context, and other available elements are also considered.
The certificate presents the conclusion of the analysis on the Glórias Authenticity Scale, from G1 to G5:
- G1 — Not authentic
- G2 — Probably not authentic
- G3 — Indeterminate authenticity
- G4 — Strongly supported authenticity
- G5 — Exceptionally supported authenticity
The scale allows for a clear expression of the degree of support for the conclusion obtained in the analysis.
Do you help sell the certified item?
Yes. Depending on the piece's profile and available opportunities, we can assist with its commercialization by presenting the item to our network of clients and collectors or to specialized dealers and auctioneers, whether in Brazil or abroad.
This service is optional and independent of the appraisal and certification. Should Glórias directly participate in the sale or intermediation, a commission will be charged, defined in advance according to the value and complexity of the operation, generally between 10% and 30%.
Any additional costs, especially in international sales — such as shipping, insurance, customs broker fees, taxes, exchange rates, and other expenses — will be communicated beforehand. The presentation or promotion of the item does not guarantee a sale, timeframe, or final price.
Is it mandatory to certify an item in order to sell it?
No. Certification is not mandatory to sell an item.
However, an independent certificate can increase buyer confidence, reduce doubts about authenticity, and facilitate marketability. The outcome also depends on the price, item presentation, and market demand.
Does certification automatically increase the value of my item?
Not necessarily. Certification increases buyer confidence, improves item liquidity, and can reduce price negotiation.
If I already know my item is authentic, why pay for a certification?
Because the buyer usually doesn't know you. Before investing thousands of reais, they want to reduce the risk.
A certificate issued by an independent expert professionally documents the item's authenticity, increases buyer confidence, and can facilitate a quicker sale at a better price.
What gives a certificate of authenticity credibility?
The credibility of a certificate depends mainly on the reputation, experience, methodology, and independence of the expert who issues it.
A certificate only has market value when buyers, collectors, and professionals trust the competence and independence of the issuer.
Is the certificate recognized nationally and internationally?
Glórias operates in the Brazilian and international markets, and Mathias Meyer is a member of the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB), an international organization of professionals in the rare books, manuscripts, and documents market.
The credibility of a certificate is directly related to the experience, reputation, methodology, and independence of the expert who issues it.
The certificate can be issued in Portuguese or, upon request, also in English, for an additional cost of R$90, with payment exclusively via Pix.
How does Glorias' certification compare to PSA, JSA, or Beckett?
PSA, JSA, and Beckett are international benchmarks, especially in certain segments of sports memorabilia.
Glórias offers a specialized alternative for the Brazilian market, with service in Portuguese, analysis performed directly by Mathias Meyer, and, in most cases, no need for international shipping.
How can a buyer verify a certificate later?
Each certificate receives a unique registration number and can be verified by email with Glórias through the QR Code and certificate number.
Can I review the certificate before final issuance?
Yes. Before the final issuance, you will receive a version for review to check for any errors, omissions, or incorrect information.
After your approval, the final certificate will be issued in PDF and sent to your email.
Is the certificate digital? Can I request a printed version?
The standard certificate is issued in digital format (PDF), with a digital signature and stamp, and sent via email. It contains the same content, registration number, and validity as the printed version.
If preferred, a printed version with a handwritten signature and physical stamp can be requested for an additional cost of R$ 150, payable exclusively via Pix.
