Terms of service
Last updated: October 2026
GLÓRIAS, registered under CNPJ no. 29.315.100/0001-99, provides appraisal, certification, purchase and sale services for autographs, manuscripts, historical documents, photographs, books, works of art and other collectibles.
Ordering any service or purchasing any item through GLÓRIAS is subject to these Terms of Service, the Refund Policy, the Privacy Policy, the Shipping and Delivery Policy and the other policies available on the website.
By ordering a service or entering into a commercial transaction with GLÓRIAS, the client declares that they have read and agree to these terms, without prejudice to the rights guaranteed by Brazilian law.
1. Services offered
GLÓRIAS offers four main services:
- Appraisal — a professional opinion on the authenticity and market value of an item.
- Certification — issuance of a digital certificate of authenticity.
- Purchase and sale of items — direct acquisition of items from third parties for resale, and sale of pieces from GLÓRIAS's own inventory.
- Consignment sale — brokering the sale of an item owned by the client by presenting it to GLÓRIAS's network of clients, collectors and partners.
Services may be ordered through the website or through the company's official channels.
2. Appraisal
The Appraisal is a professional opinion on the probable authenticity of an item, its approximate market value, its interest to collectors and, where applicable, its potential for certification or sale.
The service is carried out 100% remotely, based on clear photos of the item, the identification of the signers (if known) and the provenance information provided by the client via WhatsApp. The client is responsible for the accuracy, quality and completeness of the material submitted.
The opinion is delivered via WhatsApp within 24 hours of receiving the material.
The Appraisal fee is R$ 90 per item. For unsigned items, high-value items, collections or specific projects, GLÓRIAS may provide a custom quote. The Appraisal is also the mandatory first step of Certification; if the client decides to certify the item, the Appraisal fee is fully deducted from the price of the certificate, under the conditions set out in section 3.
The Appraisal is advisory in nature and expresses an opinion. It does not constitute a court-ordered expert examination, an official report, a certificate of authenticity or an absolute guarantee of authenticity.
The conclusions reflect the professional opinion of GLÓRIAS, through its expert Mathias Meyer, based on the evidence available on the date of the analysis.
Once the appraisal has been sent to the client, the service is deemed to have been rendered, without prejudice to the rights provided under applicable law and the Refund Policy.
3. Certification
Certification consists of issuing a digital certificate accompanied by an expert analysis of the item submitted.
Every certification is preceded by a mandatory Appraisal (see section 2), which makes it possible to verify that the item falls within the scope of the service and that there is sufficient evidence for the analysis to be carried out. Certification only proceeds if the Appraisal indicates that the item can be certified and the client decides to order it.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, certification is carried out 100% remotely, based on the photographs, documents and information provided by the client, without the need to ship the item. Depending on the nature of the item and the circumstances of the analysis, GLÓRIAS may request additional information, documents or photographs.
The client is responsible for the accuracy, completeness and quality of the information provided. Incomplete, incorrect or omitted information may affect the conclusions of the certification.
Mathias Meyer carries out two technical analyses — graphotechnical and provenance — and the resulting certificate includes a rating on the Glórias Authenticity Scale (from G1, not authentic, to G5, authenticity exceptionally supported), a unique registration number, and a digital signature and stamp. The certificate is issued in Portuguese, in PDF and image formats, and sent by email; issuance in English is optional.
The total price of certification is R$ 490 per item with 1 signature and R$ 690 per item with 2 or more signatures, including the mandatory Appraisal fee (R$ 90). After the Appraisal, the client receives a R$ 90 discount code to be used when ordering the certification of the same item, thus paying R$ 400 or R$ 600 respectively. Issuance in English costs an additional R$ 90 per item, and shipping a printed certificate by post costs an additional R$ 150 per item. For unsigned items, high-value items (above R$ 50,000), collections or specific projects, GLÓRIAS may provide a custom quote.
The discount code is personal and single-use, valid for 1 (one) month from the date the Appraisal is sent and exclusively for the certification of the appraised item; it cannot be combined with other promotions and cannot be exchanged for cash. If the client chooses not to certify the item, fails to use the code within its validity period, or if certification is not possible, the Appraisal fee is not refunded, subject to the rights provided under applicable law and the Refund Policy.
The conclusions stated in the certificate reflect the professional opinion of GLÓRIAS, through Mathias Meyer, based on the evidence available on the date of issue. The certificate represents a reasoned expert opinion and does not constitute an absolute or definitive guarantee of authenticity.
New relevant documents, information or evidence discovered later may justify a revision of the conclusions originally issued.
GLÓRIAS may decline to issue a certificate if it considers the available evidence insufficient to support a conclusion.
Issued certificates and the documents used in the analysis may be archived for control purposes, documentary records and possible future verification.
4. Purchase and sale of items
GLÓRIAS may purchase items directly from third parties for resale, and also sells items from its own inventory.
4.1 Direct purchase of items from third parties
At the client's request, GLÓRIAS may carry out a quick, free review of an item to determine whether it is interested in buying it directly. Based on the photos and information submitted, GLÓRIAS may then make a purchase offer.
If the offer is accepted, the client sends the item for verification in Belo Horizonte; once authenticity and condition have been confirmed, payment is made immediately by Pix or bank transfer.
GLÓRIAS's acquisition decisions are based on the author, the condition, the appreciation potential and the price of the item. As these are purchases for resale, the amount offered is generally at least 50% below the item's estimated market value, although payment is immediate upon verification.
A direct purchase offer is an independent commercial transaction and should not be confused with a market appraisal or with the potential price the item could reach in a future sale.
4.2 Sale of items from GLÓRIAS's inventory
GLÓRIAS also sells items from its own inventory, acquired through the direct purchase described in section 4.1 or by other means.
The characteristics, provenance, condition and other relevant information for each item are presented in the corresponding description or provided to the buyer during the sale process.
Once payment has been confirmed, items are prepared and shipped in accordance with the Shipping and Delivery Policy.
Cancellation, return and refund conditions are set out in the Refund Policy, without prejudice to the rights guaranteed to consumers by Brazilian law.
5. Consignment sale
Certifying an item does not oblige the client to have it sold on consignment by GLÓRIAS, and ordering an appraisal or certification does not guarantee its promotion, acceptance by an auction house, sale within a given timeframe or a given price.
Consignment sale normally requires the item to have been certified beforehand (see section 3) and involves two additional steps: setting, together with the owner, the price at which the item will be listed — taking into account market conditions and the client's expectations — and presenting the item to GLÓRIAS's network of clients and collectors in Brazil and abroad, including through the website, social media and newsletter; opportunities may also be sought with dealers, galleries, antique shops, sales platforms or auction houses.
The higher the price requested by the owner, the longer it may take to sell, which may range from weeks to months or years. GLÓRIAS's involvement in the consignment sale of an item is optional and subject to prior agreement with its owner.
The commission charged by GLÓRIAS on consignment sales is 20% of the sale price, with a minimum of R$ 500 per transaction. When a buyer is found, the buyer pays the agreed amount to GLÓRIAS; with the owner's authorization, the item is then shipped directly to the buyer and, once receipt has been confirmed, the corresponding amount is transferred to the owner, net of commission.
Depending on the strategy adopted, particularly in international transactions, there may be additional costs relating to, among other things, transport, packaging, insurance, specialized services, customs brokers, fees, taxes, currency exchange or charges from commercial partners. Where applicable, these costs will be disclosed in advance.
6. Commercial partners
GLÓRIAS may work with auction houses, antique dealers, galleries, sales platforms and other specialized partners.
When a transaction involves a partner, that partner's own commercial, operational and contractual terms may apply and should be taken into account according to the nature of the transaction.
Each partner remains responsible for its own commercial terms, payments, timeframes, procedures and legal obligations.
7. Right of withdrawal and refunds
The conditions applicable to cancellation, the right of withdrawal, returns and refunds are set out in the Refund Policy available on the GLÓRIAS website.
Nothing in these Terms of Service limits or excludes the rights guaranteed to consumers by Brazilian law.
8. Intellectual property
Certificates, appraisals, analytical texts, methodology, the Glórias Authenticity Scale, visual identity, photographs, images and other content produced by GLÓRIAS are protected by applicable intellectual property law.
None of this content may be reproduced, modified, distributed or used commercially without the prior written authorization of GLÓRIAS, except where expressly permitted by law.
Partial alteration of certificates, appraisals or other documents is prohibited, as is the use of isolated excerpts in a way that could alter, conceal or distort the meaning of their conclusions.
9. Nature of appraisals and certifications
GLÓRIAS's appraisals and certifications are expert professional opinions based on the evidence available at the time of the analysis.
These conclusions may be revised if new relevant documents, information or evidence are subsequently presented.
The client's disagreement with a professional conclusion does not, in itself, constitute a failure in the provision of the service.
Value estimates reflect market conditions on the date of the analysis and do not guarantee a sale, future appreciation or a given price.
10. Limitation of liability
GLÓRIAS does not guarantee the sale of any item, its future appreciation, its acceptance by third parties or a given price.
Likewise, appraisals, certifications and estimates do not constitute an absolute guarantee of authenticity, lasting value or commercial outcome.
Decisions to buy, sell, invest or negotiate made by third parties on the basis of information provided by GLÓRIAS are the sole responsibility of those who make them.
These provisions apply without prejudice to any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under Brazilian law.
