Frequently asked questions about Guidance and Authenticity Reports
1. What exactly is a guidance and authenticity report?
It is a complete professional analysis that assesses the authenticity, market value, and context of an autograph, document, or object, with the goal of guiding the client in a clear and practical way before any decision regarding purchase, sale, or preservation.
2. What is the difference between an opinion and a certificate of authenticity?
We only issue a certificate when authenticity is considered 100% proven, without any reservations. When there is the slightest uncertainty—often linked to the absence of documented provenance—we issue a technical opinion, which presents a well-founded, yet responsible, conclusion.
3. Is analysis based on photos truly reliable?
Yes, provided the images are clear, complete, and without cropping. The vast majority of professional analyses in the international market are done remotely, through graphic and contextual comparison, and can be supplemented by videos or visual aids when necessary.
4. What could be the results of the assessment?
The opinion can be positive, when there are no relevant doubts; negative, when the autograph is considered false or reproduced; or partially positive, when some residual doubt remains, usually related to a lack of solid provenance.
5. Does the report clearly indicate whether it is worthwhile to sell or keep the item?
Yes. In addition to the technical analysis, the report includes practical, market-based guidance, indicating whether the time is right to sell, whether it is better to hold on or wait, and what factors influence that decision.
6. Do you provide the actual market value of the autograph or item?
Yes. The report presents a realistic estimate of market value, based on concrete references, sales history, and observation of the current market, not on theoretical or inflated values.
7. Can the appraisal be used to negotiate with buyers or collectors?
Yes. Although it is not a commercial document, the report provides clear technical arguments that help the client justify a price, respond to objections, and negotiate in a more confident and informed way.
8. Why is the service non-refundable, regardless of the outcome?
Because each report requires time, study, comparative research, and professional responsibility, regardless of the final conclusion. The fee paid compensates for the analytical work, not a specific result.
9. Do rare or high-value items have the same price?
High-value, rare, or complex items may require a longer and more in-depth analysis, equivalent to the evaluation of several simpler items. In these cases, the client is contacted beforehand to adjust the scope and cost.
10. Can a prospective buyer confirm the existence of the report?
Yes. All reports remain on file. Should a buyer, collector, or institution wish to confirm the existence of the document or clarify technical points, we will be able to do so.
