This letter in French from Gaston d'Orléans, written in Boulogne-sur-Seine on December 8, 1903, testifies to his life in exile in France with the Brazilian imperial family. In it, he warmly congratulates the recipient, Doctor Blache, on the impending marriage of Madeleine to Lieutenant Bruineau, expressing his joy and his desire to attend the ceremony at the church of La Madeleine. Gaston, however, regrets that the Countess d'Eu, his wife, cannot accompany him due to her fragile health after a tiring journey.
This beautifully preserved document reflects not only Gaston's elegance and education, but also the importance he placed on personal relationships despite the challenges of exile. Its careful writing and the still visible arms make it an interesting piece of history of the imperial family.
