This ink drawing, made in February 1946, reveals a rare and little-documented moment in the trajectory of Luiz Sacilotto, before his recognition as a pioneer of Brazilian Concretism. With continuous, angular lines, the artist constructs a figure in an unconventional pose: torso bent, head low, and hand open towards the viewer, an ambiguous gesture suggesting introspection or a plea for help. The bare foot in the foreground accentuates the feeling of fragility. The expressive power of the work lies in its economy of means—rapid hatching and variations in thickness—which give movement and intensity to the scene.

Sacilotto, son of Italian immigrants, was born in Brazil and was one of the founders of the Ruptura Group, a major reference in concrete art in Brazil. Figurative works from this early period are extremely rare on the market, which gives this piece not only aesthetic value, but also historical value. The drawing bears witness to the transition of a young artist towards the precision and rigor that would mark his legacy in Brazilian modern art.
