To the nice friend Maurizio Grandis Cecchione Thank you from Villa-Lobos To Rome 3/15/48
By 1948, at the age of 61, Villa-Lobos had already achieved international recognition. That year, he faced significant personal challenges, including surgery to treat bladder cancer. In addition, he married Arminda Neves d'Almeida, known as “Mindinha”, who was his companion until the end of his life and responsible for preserving and promoting his work after his death. Despite his health problems, Villa-Lobos maintained his creative productivity, continuing to compose and perform. One of his notable compositions from this period is the “Piano Concerto No. 2”, completed in 1948.
We have not identified “Maurizio Grandis Cecchione” and are unsure of the correct spelling of this name! However, a lengthy dedication, on a large black and white photograph, of the maestro at work is unusual and gives the item a special value.
