Luigi Denza (1846 - 1922), was an Italian composer. He was Director of the London Academy of Music and President of the prestigious "Royal Academy of Music", both in London. Denza wrote hundreds of songs, sung by the greatest opera singers like Luciano Pavarotti or Enrico Caruso. The most famous was "Funiculì, Funiculà" which became a huge popular hit and was mistakenly used by Richard Strauss.
