My dear Countess,

Thank you for your beautiful letters and congratulations. It is from this
Castle currently ours that I write to you. The Prince
will write to (Lass?) about you. Accept all
We miss you so much, my dear countess!
Your friend with a lot of heart

Isabel Countess of Eu

In 1905, Princess Isabella was living in exile in France, more precisely in the Château d'Eu in Normandy, with her husband, the Count d'Eu. Despite her distance from Brazil after the proclamation of the Republic in 1889, Isabella remained actively involved with the Brazilian community in Europe. Known for her strong sense of duty and her patronage of the arts, Isabella remained an influential figure, cultivating a rich cultural life and participating in charitable activities.

This letter is a simple testimony of the royal family's exile. It was written in the Château d'Eu, in France, which gives us an idea of the environment and context in which Elizabeth found herself. The text is not long or elaborate, but it conveys genuine feelings of gratitude and affection, which, in my opinion, reflects the true personality of the Princess, known for her humility and kindness.
