Grace of Monaco President of the Red Cross of Monaco
Grace Kelly (1929-1982) first became known as a great American actress, winning the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1955 and becoming very influential in Hollywood. After this exceptional career, she became the Princess of Monaco, marrying Rainier III in 1956. A great actress, a fashion icon, and one of the most beautiful princesses in history, Grace of Monaco was also a dedicated philanthropist, focusing on humanitarian work after her acting career ended, which was curtailed by her marriage to the Prince.
In this 1959 letter, just three years after her high-profile wedding, the princess thanks an important organizer and generous donor of the Red Cross gala, an event she created and which has become, to this day, one of the most prestigious charitable social events in the Principality of Monaco. We appreciate here the Red Cross letterhead, the delicate text, and the princess's elegant signature.
