French transcription

My dear Tissandier

J'ai envoyé hier un petit souvenir pour mon petit filleul et je suis désolé de devoir vous dire que je ne sais pas si j'entrerais à Paris avant l'année prochaine. Now it's time for Megève, malheureusement au Mont d'Arbois on a transformation in the petit coin of a salon in BAR! It's très désagréable, et je me demande si je n´irai pas un peu à Saint Moritz. It's time for cover and sadness. Mes hommages à Madame Tissandier.

Your friend,
Santos Dumont

Portuguese translation

My dear Tissandier,

I sent a little gift to my godson yesterday, and I regret to have to tell him that I don't know if I'll be able to get to Paris before next year. I was in Megève, and unfortunately, at Mont d'Arbois, they turned our little corner of the living room into a BAR! It's very unpleasant, and I'm thinking about going to Saint Moritz for a while. The weather here is cloudy and gloomy. My regards to Madame Tissandier.

Your friend,
Santos Dumont 3.11.26

Ah, habits! Santos Dumont and Tissandier liked a little corner, probably in a hotel, that was turned into a bar, which displeased Santos Dumont. It's funny to note those three capital letters he used to express his irritation: a BAR! Tissandier and Santos Dumont were very close friends, so close that the Brazilian aviator was godfather to one of Tissandier's children, whom he loved very much: the "my godson" and the aforementioned gift demonstrate the affection Santos Dumont had for this child and for children in general, perhaps to compensate for the fact that he had never been a father.

This is a special letter, where Santos Dumont expresses his feelings, shares his plans, all with beautiful black ink calligraphy and his large signature.
