To José Carlos with admiration from Nelson
Nelson Freire (1944-2021) is considered one of the greatest pianists of the 20th century, admired for his impeccable technique, musical sensitivity and profound, emotional interpretations. His international career began to take off in the 1960s, when he won several important piano competitions in Europe, before performing in the world’s most prestigious concert halls, such as Carnegie Hall in New York and the Royal Albert Hall in London. Freire is also highly respected for his recordings, including his acclaimed albums of Chopin, Brahms and Villa-Lobos.
Nelson Freire signed very few autographs throughout his career, the dedication of this 1972 program is a notable exception.
