To José Carlos with admiration from Nelson
Nelson Freire (1944-2021) is considered one of the greatest pianists of the 20th century, admired for his impeccable technique, musical sensitivity and deep and emotional interpretations. His international career started to take off in the 1960s, when he won several important piano competitions in Europe, before performing in the most prestigious concert halls in the world, such as Carnegie Hall in New York and the Royal Albert Hall in London. Freire is also well respected for his recordings, including his acclaimed Chopin, Brahms and Villa-Lobos albums.
Nelson Freire signed very few autographs throughout his career, the dedication of this 1972 program is a notable exception.
