  • Good condition of conservation.

The photograph was taken by Giancarlo Botti, a famous photographer from the 1960s, during the filming of the feature film "Les Aventuriers" with the two French stars. The scene took place on the French Riviera or in North Africa.

Alain Delon (born 1935) is, along with Gérard Depardieu, the most famous French actor, both in France and internationally. He began his acting career with the film "The Sun as Witness" (1960) and became famous for his portrayal of the murderer Costello in "The Samurai" (1967) and also played roles of special artistic complexity in films by Luchino Visconti (Rocco and His Brothers, 1961, and The Leopard, 1963) and Völker Schlöndorf (Swann's Love, 1983). A very handsome man, one of his media conquests was the beautiful Romy Schneider, the beautiful Sissi in the cinema.

Lino Ventura (1919 - 1987) was a professional wrestler before becoming one of the most beloved actors in France after the Second World War. He starred in several classics of French cinema (especially detective stories) with the best actors of the time, such as Jean Gabin or Alain Delon: for example, "Touchez pas au Grisbi (1954)", "Army of shadows (1969)" or "Les misérables (1982)".

The third man in this photograph, Robert Enrico (1931 - 2001) was an important director and screenwriter, and also an influential director of French cinema. He directed several hits and classics such as "Les aventuriers (1967)" or "Le vieux fusil (1976)", as well as excellent documentaries, for which he won major awards.

We owe this document to Giancarlo Botti, a renowned Italian photographer born in 1931. He became famous for taking sometimes daring, always black and white photographs of celebrities such as Brigitte Bardot, Salvador Dali, Bob Dylan, Romy Schneider and Alain Delon.

Typically, official press photographs show movie stars in action; I found this image interesting because it shows the film crew resting between scenes. Alain Delon has just taken a dip in the sea. We can see the spontaneity and friendship of the three relaxed professionals.
