Original photograph by Giuseppe Verdi, composer of Nabucco, La Traviata and Aida, masterpieces of the classical repertoire.
Card by Giuseppe Verdi, front and back. In French. It was written "Verdi musico" by an old collector. 6 cm x 10 cm. No date. A hole that does not detract from the portrait and some stains on the back.
Giuseppe Verdi (1813 - 1901) was one of the most influential opera composers of the 19th century. Considered the greatest composer in Italy, like Richard Wagner in Germany, his works are frequently performed in opera houses around the world and dominate the standard repertoire a century and a half after his compositions. Nabucco, La Traviata and Aida are the best known.
Business cards with portraits of anonymous, or famous personalities, appeared in 1854 in France and quickly found enormous success until the early years of the 20th century. They were collected and exchanged by families.
Here we have a rare portrait, in business card format, of the great Italian composer.
