Pelé, the King, and Zico, the White Pelé, are considered by many to be the two best Brazilian players of all time. Pelé scored a total of 1,281 goals in 1,363 matches, most of which came for Santos Futebol Clube and the Brazilian National Team. These achievements enhanced his career, making him the greatest goalscorer in the history of world football. Zico was the leader of Flamengo's numerous national and international victories in the 1970s and 1980s. In addition, he participated in three major World Cups for the Brazilian National Team and was the greatest goalscorer in the history of the Maracanã stadium, with 333 goals in 435 matches.
This photograph captures an interesting moment of friendship between the two greatest legends of Brazilian football. It recorded a historic match against Atlético/MG, at Maracanã, on April 6, 1979, the proceeds of which were donated to the victims of the floods that occurred in Minas Gerais that year. Flamengo won 5-1 in front of a crowd of 139,953 people. Pelé was about to retire and Zico was at the height of his career.
