To Rubem Braga with a hug from his old friend E. Di Cavalcanti. Rio, January 16, 1965.

Emiliano di Cavalcanti (1897 - 1976) was one of the most important Brazilian artists: he is remembered as a painter, designer, illustrator and caricaturist. In Brazil, he designed the famous Modern Art Week in São Paulo, illustrated books by Vinícius De Moraes and Jorge Amado and worked with Oscar Niemeyer to decorate the Palácio da Alvorada, the residence of Brazilian presidents.

Emiliano di Cavalcanti also traveled abroad, especially in Europe, from the 1920s onwards. He often stayed in Paris, where he met Picasso, Léger, Matisse, Satie, Cocteau and other French intellectuals. His works were exhibited in London, Berlin, Brussels, Amsterdam and Paris. Rubem Braga, a friend of Emiliano di Cavalcanti who received this autographed booklet, was one of the best Brazilian chroniclers and brother of the poet Newton Braga.

A unique document that presents two great names in Brazilian culture - Rubem Braga and Emiliano di Cavalcanti - at the height of his career, with a beautiful dedication from the renowned painter.
