To Rubem Braga with a hug from his old friend E. Di Cavalcanti. Rio, 16 January 65.

Emiliano di Cavalcanti (1897 - 1976) was one of the most important Brazilian artists: he is remembered as a painter, draftsman, illustrator and caricaturist. In Brazil, he created the famous São Paulo Modern Art Week, illustrated books by Vinícius De Moraes or Jorge Amado and worked with Oscar Niemeyer to decorate the Palácio da Alvorada, residence of Brazilian presidents.

Emiliano di Cavalcanti also traveled abroad, especially in Europe, since the 1920s. He used to stay in Paris where he visited Picasso, Léger, Matisse, Satie, Cocteau and other French intellectuals. His works have been exhibited in London, Berlin, Brussels, Amsterdam and Paris. Rubem Braga, friend of Emiliano di Cavalcanti, recipient of this autographed booklet, was one of the best Brazilian chroniclers and brother of the poet Newton Braga.

A unique document that presents two great names in Brazilian culture - Rubem Braga and Emiliano di Cavalcanti - at the height of his career, with a beautiful dedication from the renowned painter.
