In this large-format photograph, we see Brazilian medium Chico Xavier sitting at a table, in a moment of deep concentration as he writes, possibly in one of his psychographic states. He wears a pinstripe suit and geometric-patterned tie, a style typical of the 1970s. He wears his signature sunglasses, which he often kept on even indoors, and displays a serene, slightly smiling expression. The image is autographed with a handwritten dedication in green ink: "To dear Mariazinha, with affectionate embrace, Chico Xavier. Uberaba, 14-8-76." The photo has suffered some wear over time, but has been restored, and the signature remains intact.
By 1976, Chico Xavier was widely recognized in Brazil as the country's greatest spiritualist medium, with a vast output of psychographed books that consoled millions and spread the principles of Spiritism. Living in Uberaba, Minas Gerais, he attracted crowds seeking spiritual messages and solace, always with humility and dedication to charity. He had already gained national prominence after his famous appearance on the program "Pinga-Fogo" in 1971, and his prestige went beyond the religious sphere, becoming a figure of profound social and cultural impact in Brazil.
Chico Xavier's dedications are almost always on book covers, sometimes in small notes, but almost never in photographs. This is the first photograph dedicated by him to become available on the market in at least fifteen years.
