Michael Moore is an American filmmaker, writer, and political activist, widely recognized for his provocative and socially engaged documentaries. Born in 1954 in Flint, Michigan, Moore began his career in journalism and later gained international fame with the documentary Roger & Me (1989), in which he criticized the devastating impact of the General Motors plant closures in his hometown.
He has established himself as one of the most critical voices of the American political and economic system, addressing issues such as gun violence in Bowling for Columbine (2002), the Iraq War in Fahrenheit 9/11 (2004) and the American health care system in Sicko (2007). In addition to winning an Oscar and the Palme d'Or, Moore is known for his ironic style, incisive investigations and for bringing controversial issues to the public debate. Michael Moore isn't the type to sign autographs; this one is one of a kind.
